Try This 2-Minute Trick to Knock Your Interview Out of the Park

There’s a lot to keep in mind when you’re trying to put forth your best impression during a job interview. From your answers to the interview questions, taking notes, remembering to ask your own questions, to being mindful of body language cues, there is a lot of pressure.

The Importance of Body Language

While body language is important during your interview, it can even play an important role before your big meeting.

During the morning of your interview, take a few minutes to practice confident body language. Be sure to stand up straight, without slouching your shoulders. Make eye contact with yourself in the mirror and remember that making eye contact during your interview is very important. Many recruiters or interviewers will take note if you avoid making eye contact.

Boost Your Confidence with This Power Pose

To help increase your confidence the morning of your interview (or on any big day), use this confidence-boosting pose.

  • Stand tall and place your hands on your hips.
  • Close your eyes and breathe deeply and slowly for a two to three minutes. Breathe in deeply for three seconds, hold breath for one second, and exhale for 5 full seconds.
  • During this time, try to find a calm confidence so you feel ready to tackle your interview.

The combination of this power stance and calming breathing exercise has been shown to release a hormonal balance that can increase a sense of calm and confidence in a person.
